Phil Week 3 transcript
Phil Uncle Barry, it’s Phil. How are you getting on?
Barry Yeah, I’m OK, given the circumstances with all this bloody virus nonsense. How about yourself?
Phil Yeah, getting on well, trying to get things sorted out for when I get out. Have you heard anything more about that vacancy at your mate’s restaurant?
Barry To be honest I’ve not heard anything more about it.
Phil Well can you try and sort it out as I need some sort of work as soon as I come out.
Barry Look, I’ll try my hardest to sort it, but I can’t promise anything.
Phil (Getting annoyed) I thought it was guaranteed – thought the job was ready for my release?
Barry Well it was. But that was before wasn’t it? I’m sorry Phil but what with all these lockdowns, I’m not sure his restaurant is ever gonna re-open.
Phil Oh god. What am I gonna do Barry? I need a job badly.
Barry I know mate. All I can do is listen out for something. It’s not looking good out here at the moment, especially in the hospitality business. But there’s all this talk of vaccines now, so give it a few months and things might start to look up.
Phil I can’t believe this – all the courses I’ve done in here. What’s the point? It’s a waste of time. I might as well go back to what I was doing before…
Barry If you’re gonna be like that I don’t know why I’m talking to you.
Phil That’s right Barry – go on then. Be like everyone else. I don’t know why I bother.
(Phil hangs up)
